Lady Tigers take on Suffolk at Smithtown Landing, Howland qualifies for States

A sextet of Lady Tiger Golfers teed off at Smithtown Landing Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, taking on some of the best golfers Suffolk County has to offer. They finished an impressive fourth place overall.
Alyssa Howland and Anna Trizzino qualified as individuals for the opportunity to play on Day 2. Howland, a junior, finished in the Top 9 and will play in the state championship at McGregor Links Country Club in Wilton, NY on June 5th and 6th.
“I’m super excited to go to States,” said Howland, shot a combined 182 which was good for 8th overall. “I feel like I played very well the first day day and had a little trouble on the second day.”
Trizzino, who comes off an undefeated and state championship in field hockey, loved her experience playing on the golf team.
“I’m so proud of my teammates for placing 4th in this tournament and playing on Day 2,” said Trizzino. “Being a part of this team was not only fun but helped me build and strengthen relationships with my teammates.”
Ella Girard, an 8th grader from Ward Melville won the individual title, beating the 2nd place player, Ella Coady of Southhampton, by 15 strokes. Smithtown West won the team title.
